This was another interesting question has been asked of me....who inspires me? In terms of fortysomething women, there are many, but as the Australian Open is coming up I have to say that I was hugely impressed with the tennis legend, Martina Navratilova, who won no less than two major grand slams in her forties. In 2003 she won the Australian Open mixed doubles, and followed it up with the mixed doubles at Wimbledon! Now that's impressive. Other women who inspire me include the exquisite Cate Blanchett, who will join the ranks of the fortysomethings this year. She is a classical ageless beauty, and appears to be very happy in her skin - both in terms of her looks and as an actress.

As a former dancer, myself, however, one of my all time heroines is the amazing prima ballerina, Margot Fonteyn. Back in 1961 at the age of 42, she was paired off with the 23-year-old young buck Rudolf Nureyev, creating one of the most magical ballet dance partnerships of all time....retirement? Not on your life!
